Neurontin

Neurontin is an extremely controversial drug. When Neurontin was first approved by the FDA, the approval went towards Neurontin being an add-on for epilepsy treatment. However, off label use became regular practice and Neurontin sales skyrocketed to over $1 billion a year.

Pfizer, the manufacturer of Neurontin, has been accused of marketing Neurontin for over 11 off-label uses. Public Citizen, a non-profit group, has accused Pfizer of exploiting a loophole to increase sales of Neurontins.

Neurontin has demonstrated a connection to suicide.

In May 2005, Pfizer pled guilty to charges of exploiting off-label sales. Not surprisingly, this has led to an influx of lawsuits against Pfizer.
