Cylert
Cylert was first approved by the FDA in 1975 and is used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Since it's approval, Cylert has been connected to 13 deaths.
A 1995 study indicated that Cylert increased the risk of liver failure in children by almost 45 times. At this point, the United Kingdom and Canada withdrew Cylert from the market. The FDA allowed Cylert's manufacturer, Abbot Laboratories, to continue selling Cylert if a good faith effort was made to collect necessary data, such as creating a patient registry those who had been prescribed Cylert. However, this registry was never created and Cylert remained on the U.S. market and millions of children were put at risk for its side effects.
Cylert's manufacturer recently halted sales of the drug upon pressure from public citizen's groups. However, millions of Americans have taken Cylert and could demonstrate the side effects of the drug.
